DO-160 is a standard for avionic environmental testing published by the American Radio Technical Commission for Aeronautics (RTCA). At Rocky Mountain Testing Solutions, we provide DO160 acceleration testing services so you can ensure your products’ compliance with the standard. Our top-of-the-line centrifuge is equipped to perform acceleration testing tailored to client specifications.
Our DO160 Acceleration Testing Facility
RMTS offers a state-of-the art centrifuge for sustained DO160 acceleration testing for commercial and industrial products. This type of acceleration testing is also called g-force testing. The stresses placed on a product when subjected to increasing gravity load can be catastrophic in everyday product applications if the product is not properly equipped to handle them. Acceleration loads can cause structural problems such as deflection, problems with flow and pressure regulation, hardware or fastener failure, and a host of other issues.
Our product testing lab can configure g-force tests using various boom arm lengths and end-of-arm weights. For example, our boom configuration range is up to 400 rpm or about 150 g and can hold up to 100 lbs per boom end. We offer other boom configurations for heavier payloads and lower acceleration levels.
We have adjustable fixtures that allow the test product to be tilted and rotated in order to match combined load vector test requirements. Additionally, our testing equipment has wire feeds for input and output controls and loadings with power inputs to the test object.

Centrifuge Features
The centrifuge at Rocky Mountain Testing Solutions is the pinnacle of centrifuge technology. Its customizable settings enable quality DO160 acceleration testing in the Intermountain region. The centrifuge’s rotating boom design facilitates product orientation without elaborate fixturing. It is capable of supporting 25 Gs at a total load of 400 lbs.
At RMST, we also offer four channel digital PC-based control systems that can be programmed for multiple ramps and dwell steps. Our DO160 acceleration testing makes use of 24 circuits rated 2A and 12 circuits rated 10A.
Types Of Acceleration Testing Performed
No matter the DO160 acceleration testing you need performed, our facilities can accommodate. These are the types of acceleration testing we perform:
Acceleration Cycling
Centrifuge Acceleration
Multi-Axis Acceleration Testing
Payload Analysis
Thrust Application Testing
MIL-STD-202
RTCA DO-160
Our DO160 acceleration testing services meet the following acceleration test standards:
MIL-STD-750 method 2006
MIL-STD-202 E/F/G (Method 212)
MIL-STD-810 E/F/G (Method 513)
RTCA DO-160 E/F/G (Section 7 – Crash Safety Sustained)
Test Data Acquisition and Reporting
Whatever your acceleration (g-force) testing needs, RMTS will provide you with answers, based on your exact requirements. We will consult with you on custom test protocols allowing for a very close approximation of the actual conditions that your product will endure. Custom test duration, visual inspection, and photos of units under test will be considered.
Our experienced technicians adhere to the necessary safety precautions before, during, and after the test. When testing is completed, you will receive a detailed and accurate testing report for your product qualification and third-party validation testing. If you are ready to take advantage of RMTS’s DO160 acceleration testing services or need assistance in developing an acceleration test specification, contact us today.
